A New Chapter Rooted in Community

Our neighborhood nonprofit brings neighbors together to strengthen community connections, encourage growth, and enhance our shared spaces. From the Garden Club and Social Club to our beautification team, we work side by side to host free events, maintain community areas, and keep our neighborhood vibrant and welcoming — including favorites like the beautiful tulip roundabout.

Collaborative solutions

Imagine meeting a web developer that supports you in the platform you’re already in…

  • Used their existing platform, WIX
  • Used the drag and drop building system to improve the flow and design of the site
  • Made the layout and website content responsive to all screen sizes
  • Updated the imagery throughout the site
  • Consolidated and improved the UX through main navigation improvements / having a parent child hierarchy for the information that existed for an interactive dropdown, without eliminating the pages or its content

Additional Collaborations

All the neighbors helped with edits to the website, photography updates, new content suggestions, and layout. It was truly, much like the organization itself, a community effort from proud locals.

Why J-Bird…

Our Journey

Who wouldn’t want to donate the skill that brings them great joy to their neighbors? Who wouldn’t want to pay it forward to their community, one kindness at a time? Okay okay, we’re building websites but to this little birdie – that’s how we’re able to give back to the community what they’ve poured into us.

  • Staying in platform was the easiest way to ensure we could improve the exitsing website while also ensuring everyone had access to learn the new editing system
  • Mobile responsiveness (making sure the design worked well, if not better, on a mobile device) was one primary objective
  • The sitemap was broken into fractional pages rather than intuitive – which for a human user can be hard to navigate and take away their opportunity to be the “hero” of visiting your website
  • SEO Optimization, although not a goal of the work, was also implemented to boost the discoverability of the informative site
  • Basic things such as improving slugs from about-3-2 to about-fourth-gill-neighborhood (redirecting the old links along the way)

J-Bird was able to provide…

  • Strategic organization and consolidation of existing content
  • Collective selection of copyright approved images sourced from neighbors
  • Executive decision making in regards to UX improvements and mobile responsiveness

Outcomes of the project…

neighborly love meets web developer

The website is now functioning in a way that better serves those who use it to find neighborhood events, upcoming announcements, committees, imagery, etc.

With a wide demographic range – having a user friendly and responsive website is an easy way to build community rather than fracture it. It allows the people who live here to showcase the initiatives made, and events planned. Having the site be a living and breathing billboard into what’s happening rather than just a static example of what was? Amazing.

I am proud and passionate about utilizing my talents to benefit and uplift those in my neighborhood.

A 5 Star Review? We're Blushing...

Jess Curtis of J-bird Digital Designs recently completed an overhaul of our neighborhood website, and we are thrilled. The color palette is brighter and more visually consistent, resulting in a more cohesive and professional website. Our main goal was to build a stronger community through photos of neighbor interaction and through more streamlined access to information on events and clubs/committees. J-bird Digital Designs achieved that and more. Jess also has been a joy to work with, making numerous suggestions to better tie pieces together and working at record pace with minimal follow-up assistance from our neighborhood organization leadership. We highly recommend J-bird for any website design needs. – Celia Lawren

A 5 Star Review? We're Blushing...

We’re in love! The Fourth and Gill Neighborhood is so lucky to have landed Jess and J-Bird Digital Designs as the new web designer! Jess is a spirited, creative, professional designer who has been able to transform our dated website into something fresh, polished, and interactive. Working with Jess has been a joy! There were so many moving parts to this website and she handled the entirety of the project with close attention to detail and a keen ear to the input of members of our organization. We are proud to publicly present the Fourth and Gill Organization to the community and our neighbors through the website created by Jess at J-Bird Digital Designs!
